Giorgio Serafino
Sculture di Giorgio Serafino by Agneta Falk:

Agneta Falk

English:

Among my works there are armless tumblers and trapeze men, the Indian
untouchables, the refugees, there is the hanged innocence, there are mad people with
straitjackets, the dreamers torn up by society, there’s Christ too. There are hermits and
the howl of nature, speechless dancers or hundred-year-old wise persons. There’s
desperation and my clear “vision” of the tears of a dying nature.
Through my sculptures I try to express my social uneasiness, all the pain of
the animal killed for a laugh and of the man who is unable to dream any
longer.
The ongoing escape, the internal turmoil, the human misery, the death of the
dream and the desperate search for the truth find peace, from time to time,
when they are allowed into a safe place, otherwise their scream gets even
louder.

GIORGIO SERAFINO: SCULPTURES by Agneta Falk
These sculptures,
portraying the human condition. Carved entirely
in wood from olive trees, Giorgio Serafino
brings out the inner turmoil he’s always
lived with, following the grain in the wood organically,
becoming one with the wood. One almost has a feeling
the wood at times carves itself, such is the
sensitive touch of the hand and mind of its
creator. Each sculpture stands alone, though
together they speak as a choir. Serafino’s
quest in creating is to allow the wood to reveal
Its own soul in the form of dramatic human
gestures, as if in response to the question:
Do you know that silence
that rises louder than a scream
that hurls itself against
the wall of indifference
that silence which has had
it’s tongue cut out
but never ever stops screaming.
